Every Halloween, the costumes change.
One year, they're superheroes.
The next, they're race car drivers.
And before we know it, they're growing out of the costumes we remember so clearly.
As dads, we sometimes get caught up in making sure everything is perfect.
The right costume.
The best decorations.
The biggest bag of candy.
But years from now, our kids probably won't remember how much candy they collected.
They'll remember who walked beside them.
Who held their hand.
Who dressed up with them.
Who made an ordinary October night feel like an adventure.
Looking back at these Halloween pictures with my son reminds me that time doesn't slow down.
And while I can't keep him little forever, I can make sure he grows up with memories of a dad who was always there.
Because the costumes are temporary. But the memories we create together last a lifetime.
